Acceptable Use Policy

Last Updated: May 10, 2026

1. Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the principles that govern the use of the services provided by 9rank.ai ("we", "our", "us"). This policy is designed to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and to protect the security, integrity, and performance of our services, network, and AI models. This AUP is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service and is a condition of your use of our Service.

2. Prohibited General Activities

You may use our services only for lawful purposes. You may not use our services:

  • In any way that violates any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
  • For any unlawful or fraudulent purpose, or to harm or attempt to harm any individual or entity.
  • To send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use, or re-use any material which does not comply with our content standards.
  • To transmit, or procure the sending of, any unsolicited or unauthorized advertising or promotional material or any other form of similar solicitation (spam).
  • To knowingly transmit any data, send or upload any material that contains viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time-bombs, keystroke loggers, spyware, adware, or any other harmful programs or similar computer code designed to adversely affect the operation of any computer software or hardware.
  • To attack, or attempt to disrupt, the Service, including, without limitation, via means of a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of-service attack.

3. Specific Prohibitions Related to 9rank.ai Services

In addition to the general prohibitions above, users may not use our services to:

  • Conduct any form of automated vulnerability, performance, or availability testing (including penetration testing, load testing, or stress testing) on any part of the 9rank.ai platform without express written consent.
  • Resell, sublicense, or otherwise repackage our services as a standalone offering without a valid reseller or partner agreement.
  • Perform SEO audits or analyses on websites for which you do not have proper authorization or ownership. Auditing third-party websites without permission may violate laws and is strictly prohibited.
  • Use our AI tools to generate content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, libelous, or promotes violence, discrimination, or illegal acts.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise discover the source code, underlying algorithms, or proprietary logic of our AI models, scoring systems, or platform software.
  • Analyze or audit websites primarily engaged in illegal activities, including but not limited to the sale of illegal goods, phishing, malware distribution, or fraudulent schemes.
  • Attempt to manipulate, "game," or exploit our AI models through deceptive inputs, prompt injection, or other methods designed to produce unintended or harmful outputs.
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or other means to systematically scrape or extract data from the Service, including audit reports and AI-Generated Content, beyond the intended use via the UI or authorized API access.
  • Use the Copy Checker tool to identify and remove just enough content to bypass plagiarism detection systems while retaining substantively copied material. The tool is designed to help you ensure content originality, not to circumvent academic or editorial integrity standards.
  • Use the Content Writer tool to generate content for academic submissions, exam responses, or any context where AI-generated content is prohibited by the receiving institution or organization's policies.
  • Use the Content Writer or Content Rater tools to mass-produce low-quality, auto-generated pages (doorway pages) intended solely to manipulate search engine rankings.
  • Deploy Kernel9 Chat Widgets on websites that promote illegal activities, hate speech, or content that violates our Acceptable Use Policy. You are responsible for the content your Kernel9 AI chatbot delivers to your end-users.
  • Misrepresent Kernel9 AI chatbot responses as human-generated. If your jurisdiction requires AI disclosure (e.g., under the EU AI Act), you must clearly indicate to your end-users when they are interacting with an AI agent.

4. Fair Use of Resources

While some plans may offer "unlimited" usage for certain features, all use of the Service is subject to a fair use policy. We reserve the right to limit or throttle account usage that we deem to be excessive, automated, or that negatively impacts the performance and availability of the Service for other users. This is to ensure a high-quality experience for everyone.

5. Enforcement

We will determine, in our sole discretion, whether there has been a breach of this AUP through your use of our services. When a breach of this policy has occurred, we may take such action as we deem appropriate.

Failure to comply with this AUP constitutes a material breach of the Terms of Service upon which you are permitted to use our services, and may result in our taking any or all of the following actions:

  • Immediate, temporary, or permanent withdrawal of your right to use our services.
  • Immediate, temporary, or permanent removal of any content generated or stored on our services.
  • Issuance of a formal warning to you.
  • Legal proceedings against you for reimbursement of all costs on an indemnity basis (including, but not limited to, reasonable administrative and legal costs) resulting from the breach.
  • Further legal action against you.
  • Disclosure of such information to law enforcement authorities as we reasonably feel is necessary or are required to by law.

6. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any violation of this AUP, you agree to notify us immediately by emailing [email protected]. We will investigate all good-faith reports of compliance with this policy.

7. Changes to the Policy

We may revise this AUP at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we make, as they are legally binding on you.
