Question 1

What is AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)?

Accepted Answer

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is the practice of structuring your content so AI-powered answer engines like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity can extract, cite, and surface your brand as a direct answer. It involves FAQ schemas, conversational content, and featured snippet optimization. 9Rank.ai provides a full AEO/NEO Audit to identify and fix all AEO gaps.

Question 2

What is NEO (Neural Engine Optimization)?

Accepted Answer

NEO (Neural Engine Optimization) focuses on ensuring AI neural networks and knowledge graphs correctly understand and classify your brand as a trusted entity. It includes Organization schema, entity disambiguation, E-E-A-T signals, and author credentials. The 9Rank 9R Trust Badge system directly supports NEO by submitting entity signals to 65+ LLMs.

Question 3

What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?

Accepted Answer

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the strategy of making your content citable by generative AI engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google Gemini. It requires structured content with clear statistics, definitions, and multi-format presentation (text + tables + lists). 9Rank.ai helps businesses optimize for GEO through its AI Engine Intelligence audit and structured content tools.

Question 4

What is the 9R Score?

Accepted Answer

The 9R Score is 9Rank's proprietary AI-powered authority metric scored from 0-100. Unlike Domain Authority (DA) which counts links indiscriminately, the 9R Score uses the formula Trust / (Trust + Spam Risk) × 100 to evaluate the genuine quality of a domain's authority. It analyzes technical SEO, entity recognition, content depth, AI-readiness, and ethical practices.

Question 5

How does 9Rank check if my brand appears in AI search results?

Accepted Answer

The 9Rank AI Search Checker tool queries ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other generative AI engines to check if your brand appears in responses for relevant queries. It tracks brand mention frequency, sentiment, and ranking position in AI-generated answers, providing actionable recommendations to improve AI search visibility.

Question 6

Is 9Rank.ai free to use?

Accepted Answer

9Rank.ai offers a free tier that provides access to core SEO tools including the Authority Checker, Keyword Suggestions, and AI Search Checker. Question 7

How does 9Rank.ai differ from standard SEO tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush?

Accepted Answer

9Rank.ai is purpose-built for the AI search era. While traditional SEO tools focus on traditional Google rankings, 9Rank adds AEO, NEO, and GEO optimization layers — tracking and improving visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and 65+ LLMs. Our proprietary 9R Score, real-time data architecture, and AI auto-fix capabilities go beyond what legacy tools offer.

Question 8

What AI models does 9Rank use?

Accepted Answer

The 9Rank AI Engine (9RAI) uses a multi-model orchestration system with proprietary model tiers: 9RAI Nexus (flagship multimodal), 9RAI Zenith (sub-second processing), 9RAI Aura (logical synthesis), and 9RAI Astro (real-time indexing). CMS users can select their preferred AI model for auto-fix, content generation, and audit tasks through the AI Engine settings.
